Cal Cup Championship Crew
CLASSIC CREW: Congratulations to the men’s crew team, which captured its first-ever Cal Cup Championship win in early April at the prestigious San Diego Crew Classic. (They are: Darren Vonplaten, ’07; Gilbert Collins, ’08; Joe Gram, ’07; Tyler Sutterley, ’08, Brenden Carriker, ’07, and Derek Huffman, ’08. The Tritons edged out five other schools, beating UCLA’s team in the last 500 meters of the race, resulting in a 4-second lead for the win.

WINNING STREAK: After some early season struggles, the Triton baseball team rode a five-game winning streak, and ultimately pulled away with its second CCAA title in the last three seasons. Junior Scott Clement set the program record last season with 15 homeruns, and will lead the team with both a potent offense and a solid defense.

LEAPING INTO ACTION: The UCSD track and field teams leapt back into action during the month of February. The
Triton women are the two-time defending CCAA champions, while the men, led by reigning CCAA Freshman of the Year Scott Tsuda, are looking to improve upon last year’s second place finish.
