John Valva, Executive Director, UCSD Alumni AssociationIn this issue, we feature an interview with Joseph Watson, who is retiring after 41 years at UC San Diego as professor, founding provost of Third/Thurgood Marshall College, and vice chancellor of Student Affairs. If it ever could be said that an individual had direct impact on the lives of every undergraduate who attended UC San Diego, that person would be Joe Watson. MORE

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

A Sun God Saga

Indeed, the Sun God is a religious symbol: the totem of a cult whose ideology trumps reason and tradition. Here is our anthem (sung roughly to the tune of “This Land is Your Land”):

There is but One God
The Chicken Sun God
A Really Fun God
A Naked Bun God
If you want a Good Bod
Worship the Sun God
UC-SD is for you and me
