Secret Scholar

Can you be both smart and sexy? Lisa Sabido, ’08, launched Secret Scholar in 2007 to prove it is possible. Now renamed Fashion Quarterly, the biannual magazine is powered by a wide variety of student talents including designers, photographers, stylists, journalists, bloggers, and makeup artists.

“We do not have the luxury of time to train so we look for students who already have experience,” co-editor Lois Lim, ERC ’10, says, “The production and every element of our organization is mostly run by students for students.”

Fashion Quarterly is based on the idea that fashion is not only a lifestyle, but first and foremost an outlet of self-expression. Since its launch, the magazine has emphasized that beautiful women can also be smart and vice versa, and the editorial staff embody that message in their choice of cover girl.

“We choose the model based on someone who is well-rounded, smart and beautiful,” Lim says.

The next issue of Fashion Quarterly will hit stands on January 21. For more go to: fashion-quarterly.com.
