All in a Twitter

Ellen DeGeneres created a Twitter frenzy at the Price Center as hundreds of students gathered to enter her Twitter Challenge contest on October 22.

DeGeneres, who has more than 3.5 million followers on Twitter, started hinting to UC San Diego students the previous night that her show would come to campus next day.

The crowd at the Price Center erupted at 5:45 p.m. when DeGeneres announced the challenge: “Bring Aaron any kind of corn at the Price Center.” Students rushed to the Sunshine Market to buy chips, southwestern salads and popcorn, and the show’s field producer, Aaron Pinkston, selected winners who were taken to the second floor of Price Center where the production crew was filming. DeGeneres then challenged them to get a picture of themselves wearing nothing but a red towel with someone in any kind of uniform, all in less than 15 minutes. DeGeneres awarded all five with trips to Los Angeles and tickets to one of her 12 Days of Giveaway tapings. Which we presume, left them “all in a twitter.”
